In Amsterdam!
Just a quick heads up: Posts this week will be slow, or likely nonexistent, as I’m in Amsterdam for the Casuality casual games conference. I’ll be back into the swing of things next week!

yess!!!!
its called Endorphin. its an amazing program! think toribash, and toybox movie maker!!!!
on February 12th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
Sorry Eric, but EWndorphin has been in many previous posts. I have downloaded endorphin LE, and your right, it’s awsome.

I know one! Cortex Command’s had a major upgrade.
http://www.datarealms.com
on February 13th, 2007 at 2:20 am
Yay, Cortex Command is cool, and there’s tons of mods to it!
on February 13th, 2007 at 5:19 am
Cortex command is becoming harder and harder to play and mod. I hope this update will be different.
Endrophin is cool, if a little old.
Keep posting games here if yoiu know any!
on February 14th, 2007 at 12:43 am
And yet another update for Cortex Command!
Mouse support, better AI, and now the option to stack item drops and choose where they touch down.
Also, maps are now selectable.
That’s right! No more 5-odd copies of Cortex Command to keep all your maps. Just load em up. I’ve got Persh’s Map, Tomato Map and Arctic Mission installed and I’m waiting for the moon map.
(Forum goers will know what I’m talking about, for the rest of you,

http://www.datarealms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=506
{Persh and JAGO have decided to end an eons long blood war and put their two maps together [Persh’s and Tomato]} )
Rejoice, good people of Fun-Motion!
– Red Jester
P.S. Mouse aiming is buggy as shit, I recommend the original keyboard only.
P.P.S. No, I will not help with your problems, check out the threads themselves and the General section for help
on February 14th, 2007 at 7:51 am
YES! Just what I’ve been waiting for: Mouse support!

Where can I download endorphin? I don’t wnat to look for it on google ^^
on February 14th, 2007 at 10:40 am
I’m suprised Matt hasn’t done a Review on Endorphin.
on February 14th, 2007 at 11:32 am
maybe it’s because endorphin isn’t really a game

on February 17th, 2007 at 12:14 am
@Invertin: Have a look at those tutorialvideos and while you are watching those videos try to do the same as the guy does.

@Wrestler#1: Thanks, BTW your english is great.

Physmo and Endorphin look like VERY, VERY cool things! I’m downloading the free Learning Edition of Endorphin as we speak (I couldint find a full version *colf colf*)
I can hardly wait tell Physmo is out! It looks like it plays like TIM but the physcis based game play looks awesome!
on February 17th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
The Physmo guys emailed me awhile ago–I’m hoping to score an exclusive preview or something along those lines when they wrap up development.
Dan’s running a 4-player playtest of CC at his place tonight, too, although I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it (date with the GF).
on February 17th, 2007 at 4:35 pm
While you’re here, Matthew, do you think that instead of the three red dots in a line, there should be a crosshair? I think that it would make aiming much easier.
Coupled with much faster movement for the crosshair and a limit to how far you could aim which does not depend on there being a line-of-sight to the target, I believe that it will make so much difference to the system.
P.S. Anyone who is registered on the CC forums, know this; The-Masses13 is my alias and Red Jester was an alias of an alias.
Yeah, I don’t know what that meant.
So if you’re registered, say hi.
– The-Masses
P.P.S. I also put my name down for Physmo.
on February 17th, 2007 at 5:51 pm
I would love to priview it!
Physmo looks well put togather, and will last beyound the main game. Costomisation is the key. I hope besides just a level editor the’ll put a prop editor where you can define the exsact shape and properties (ie strangh, gravaty, axes).

Eww, i have been in france for 7 days, I come back and still you guys are talking about Endorphin…
I wish someone made a game that was based around softbody physics…
I would make one, but I can’t, because I suck.
on February 18th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
My thoughts exactly. Softbody physics rule!
on February 18th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
Some good PhysX Links for everyone;
1) List of PhysX websites and contains demos including a Soft Body demo: http://personal.inet.fi/atk/kjh2348fs/ageia_physx.htm
2) Planet PhysX: http://www.planetphysx.com/weblog/archives/physx_enabled_games/
Some good physics games;
1) Crysis- A great game with fully destructible enviroments inluding realtime tree deformation. Like on Bet On Soldier.

Man i wish physmo comes out soon it looks awesome. All the mechanisms look great and you really got to think hard
on February 19th, 2007 at 1:26 am
If I’m not mistaken, Endorphin LE is basically the full version with all the features of the “full version”. The only real difference is that with the Learning Edition you can’t export your animations and thus can’t use it as a game development tool. Who has the time to make a game anyways?
on February 19th, 2007 at 1:28 am
Damn that cell factor looks cool… But the physXcard is way too expensive :(…. Well, i’ll buy it when it’s ~100€…
on February 19th, 2007 at 1:36 am
Blimey! Thanks AquaGeneral, i wasn’t expecting such a good list…
I agree with Ye, these cards are a bit of a rip-off, but you kind of want one, I know I do.
on February 19th, 2007 at 1:44 am
Sorry for the double post
The first link i assume is broken, when i click on it it comes up with this:

and nothing else, am i doing something wrong?
on February 19th, 2007 at 2:22 am
@Beakless:
he forgot the ‘l’ at the end of ‘htm’. correct link should be http://personal.inet.fi/atk/kjh2348fs/ageia_physx.html
on February 19th, 2007 at 5:29 am
Um, i don’t think you actually need the card to play it though. I just downloaded some kind of driver off that Physx site and (apparently) it lets me play stuff like that. i don’t know if it will work yet cause its still downloading.
on February 19th, 2007 at 6:38 am
All the games i installed and they wanted PhysX, they just wanted the installation of the PhysX software to be done and they played normally. You can’t play them without installing the drivers (eg. Tortuga, Infernal, GRAW), but you don’t need a card too. Surely, it will make the things easier for the CPU and a bit more beautiful for our eyes, but i think i can live without it for a little more :)
Just to point that out, the installation of the PhysX software always stops at the scanning for PhysX hardware. The only solution is… restart, everything locks up. After that, the game plays just fine… Strange world… :P
on February 19th, 2007 at 6:49 am
You guys are not really interested in that card, are you? :P
Sure, you can play games with the agaia software without the card – stil – but in the near future you have to buy the card to run agaia physix games! I want to buy the physix card but I am waiting for the PCI-express version of it!
@ Invertin: Thanks :D
PS: again, sorry for my bad english ;)
on February 19th, 2007 at 1:22 pm
On Cell Factor to play without PhysX. Right click on the shortcut, Properties, add this to the target “EnablePhysX=false” without the quote markes, click ok and then you can play.
on February 19th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
Do you know how to disable shading? cause whenever i start the game, it says “Direct x 9 shader model 2.0 not supported blah blah blah…” I hope that’s not because I have a Radeon 9250 (Direct x 8.1) :(.
on February 19th, 2007 at 3:39 pm
BTW: AquaGeneral – Putting that command in doesn’t work. It doesn’t fit.
on February 19th, 2007 at 5:32 pm
Go endorphin, I’m an expert at it!
on February 19th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
Rodminder, it doesn’t matter anyways. The newest version of the demo doesn’t work without the hardware even if you put the command in.
on February 19th, 2007 at 9:58 pm
Robminder, to fix that problem you will need to make the directory shorter my unistalling Cell Factor and installing to to something like C:\Cell Factor Demo. Another thing I must say is update to a better graphic card. IMO you should get a DX10 card because soon DX9 cards will phase out. Some DX10 cards are only $400 USD (I think)http://au.gamespot.com/features/6165714/index.html One more thing, do you play DX9 games?
The reason why this problem occurrs is becuase the shortcut target is too long and reaches its mximum.
Everyone, it is a good idea to check http://www.datarealms.com more occasional because it is getting some majhor updates including a map editor, just think a pixel physics game with a map maker.
on February 20th, 2007 at 11:50 pm

You posted this on the 7th of February

Which is something like 2 years

Guys.. we are all physics lovers.. There must be varied talents in here.. maybe some creative minds, others more experienced in gameplay, maybe even others are great story tellers,
There’s one thing we mind lack.. A programmer..
But hey, why not try and assemble a group of physics lovers.. I’m sure u all have tons of ideas aswell on what u wud like to see in physics games.. Maybe we can try creating some simple but fun physics games.. less is more ;)
Lemme know what u think, [email protected]
on February 21st, 2007 at 12:53 pm
Well,
Why don’t you contribute to the development of Toribash? I mean, sign up to the forums and post some things that you think you should see in a Fighting Physics game. Hampa does check that “What do you want to see in Toribash thread” for new ideas for upcoming releases. Hampa is a rather good programmer (look at his work!) and he loves to hear new, but good ideas.
I’m rather sick of people giving us stupid ideas and BIG ideas, the dev team doesn’t want to spend 2 years implementing an idea, what we need is *simple* yet *good* ideas.
So why not contribute to Toribash today? :)
on February 21st, 2007 at 1:37 pm
Release the Ski stunt simulator editor please!
Look at the Ski stunt simulator extreme comments O_O
on February 21st, 2007 at 2:21 pm
*YAAAAAAAAWWWWWWN…*
This site has been so quiet lately… please Matthew come back and update, don’t let the physic-based games world dissapear!
on February 21st, 2007 at 2:41 pm
AquaGeneral: Here’s the problem with that.
1. I’m twelve, so I can’t make any money by working at a fast food place or whatever you damn teens/adults/older people than me do.
2. MY COMPUTER IS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF THE MIDDLE AGES. It only supports PCI :(. So any thing above 8.1 won’t work.
3. My parents would rather spend the night at Brian Peppers house than build a custom PC for me, with all the bells and whistles (namely dual direct x 10 cards and a really good processor) and the only other PC I want, or rather, found, is that Alienware Aurora 7900 (i think thats what its called) that looks mouth-wateringly cool, but sadly its around $1500, an amount of money I’ve only DREAMT about.
on February 21st, 2007 at 2:46 pm
Oh I’m around–fear not. I’ve just been spending a lot of my Fun-Motion time working on my presentation for the Independent Games Summit. I’ll try to squeak in a new review, though.
You guys are awfully chatty lately. Perhaps it’s time for a forum?
on February 21st, 2007 at 2:52 pm
YES!!
that is exactly what we need!
we could have a place to post links to games without these threads!
on February 21st, 2007 at 3:09 pm
YAY FORUM!
on February 21st, 2007 at 3:39 pm
YAY FORUM!
on February 21st, 2007 at 3:49 pm
Exactly what we need Matt.
:]
on February 21st, 2007 at 6:05 pm
Yeah, this would be great…
The reason? Some time ago, i thought to read the comments of one game i liked and saw a link for a game posted by a user. The first thing that came to my mind was “dammit, now i have to read all the comments on every game and interview, in case there was another link or something” :P And i did it :D
Now, everyone who has to say something interesting, he’ll simply post it at the latest added new/review, even if it has no relation with this at all. Just to be sure than many people will see it. So, it would be just perfect to have a topic for all these links to be posted or a topic about endorphin or anything else… Just to know where to look!
on February 22nd, 2007 at 12:45 am
YAY FORUM! :)
WOOHOO! And when do we get the forum? In a week? XD
on February 22nd, 2007 at 3:44 am
You could use the free forumer software. http://www.forumer.com/ The service is pretty good and one of my favourite forums used to use it.
It would be better if one of us coded out the forum, though, as stated in a previous post, we lack any programming skills (Though I know some python :P). I would set up the forum if I had some free time, however I think it would be better if Matthew did it.
on February 22nd, 2007 at 3:46 am
And man, endorphin is like crack. Can’t get enough of it. xD
on February 22nd, 2007 at 4:45 am
Endorphin is pretty good, but without the ability to create your own running animations and stuff (through lack of a good animation program or lack of skill), it gets a little boring.
Pushing someone in the face and watching them stumble is only so interesting. :/
-TGP-
on February 22nd, 2007 at 5:49 am
You can make running animations. Just look at the tutorials :P.
on February 22nd, 2007 at 5:52 am
That is why I make multiple stories with mutiple railings. Many nights wasted perfecting flooring scheme, and many more nights wasted getting the perfect camera angle. I also try to stimulate the guy getting hit by an explosion and crashing into many civilians. Still a work in progress, with many more nights to go. :D
on February 22nd, 2007 at 6:10 am
YAY FORUM =D
We need a forum! =)
on February 22nd, 2007 at 9:02 am
A forum would be good, but damn, Matt, where the hell are you. I could have sworn that you said that regular updates were going again…
Have you finally ditched Fun-Motion??? =-(
on February 22nd, 2007 at 12:17 pm
maybe he should pick some people to help
on February 22nd, 2007 at 1:08 pm
C’mon don’t rush Matthew.
But a forum will be great!
on February 22nd, 2007 at 1:31 pm
OK, while we are waiting, just answer this:
What do you think is more fun, FlatOut, or FlatOut 2?
on February 22nd, 2007 at 1:42 pm
I have number 2. it was wicked fun at first on the minigames, but then I tried racing. It stunk. the graphics and physics were great, but there were too many all out stops from buildings, trees, etc.
I haven’t played the first,and I dont think I will either.
on February 22nd, 2007 at 2:31 pm
A forum!? Holy cheeseburger. That’s awesome!!
on February 22nd, 2007 at 3:25 pm
i have both flatouts. the first is much better
on February 22nd, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Flatout was great. I was amazingly addicted to the game, mostly because the realistic physics and easy graphics.
Flatout 2 had a somewhat more arcadish feeling.. dunno, think it’s partly due to the blurry graphics.
Well anyways, I’m glad people are finally spamming on fun-motion :)
And one of the most more important reasons, soad667 said it all!
on February 22nd, 2007 at 9:56 pm
Free Rider is line-rider with a dirt-bike, and control of the character.
It has a text-based map loading and saving system, so you can share maps with other people through the forums.
http://onemorelevel.com/games.php?game=453
on February 22nd, 2007 at 11:13 pm
If no one has any objections, I will set up the forum. However, Matthew should give us the green light or do it himself. Though with the lack of updates I think he has little or no time to do this sort of thing.
on February 22nd, 2007 at 11:26 pm
I can set up a forum this weekend–I’d like to combine the WordPress comments into the forum so there aren’t multiple areas of discussion (each post will start a thread).
on February 22nd, 2007 at 11:49 pm
That’d be cool, Matthew…Try to get it up this weekend…I’m getting bored. =)
In the meantime…Endorphin’s cool. The only problem is that I had to download the Learning Edition from P2P networks, because the link to BT/USA servers wouldn’t connect. So I don’t have the final version.
Matthew, if you have the time, could you…download 2.7 Learning Edition and post it? Because I’m missing a lot of stuff here. =D
on February 23rd, 2007 at 1:06 am
@Jokker,
add me in msn at
delite [at] live [dot] nl
got endorphin aswell as some other physics goodies
on February 23rd, 2007 at 1:08 am
Hoping fun-motion will remain the best source for physics related games when the game industry brings us results of their work on physics based games.
on February 23rd, 2007 at 2:14 am
Because I am bored I am making Tutorials for Cortex Command, when they are finished that would make time go faster for everyone.
on February 23rd, 2007 at 2:34 pm
Sorry for the double post.
While we are waiting for the forum answer this question. What do you use Endorphin for (eg Physics, Animating, or watever you you it for.
When I use Endorphin I awlays try making a fight scene and it turns out as a Marble Sim.
on February 23rd, 2007 at 7:46 pm
I just do whatever like a guy throwing a guy through a table stack
on February 23rd, 2007 at 11:23 pm
Hey everyone I have made this video of Lego Duplay mixed with Battle Ship pieces making a bomb. In slow-motion, reversed video slow motion, normal speed and normal speed reversed video of 2 little things I made.
Just to make this clear it is not a game, it is real life. I have made actualy a pretty lot of these type of things and used a toy car to knock into, but due it shows everyone in my family I will not upload it.
http://fileho.com/download/0ff860130005/Block-Bomb.wmv.html
Enjoy!
on February 24th, 2007 at 1:46 am
I actually use Endorphin for fun. I dunno why, but I love making trapese(sp?) jumps and stuff like that. Though it’s annoying that the Undo button gets reset right when you mess something up and no way to get the scene back…
Oh, and if anyone has a heart, someone download the installer for 2.7 and upload it somewhere so I can download it…PLEASE. The damned links won’t work from their actual site. It may be the same thing that keeps people from my LAN accessing any nasa.gov site… =\
on February 24th, 2007 at 2:49 am
Sill talking about endorphin?! Blimey…
Any other quick links anyone knows of??
on February 24th, 2007 at 2:56 am
AquaGeneral : Aw.. couldn’t you use Windows Movie Maker or something to blank out your family’s faces? Dying of boredom here.
Anyway, I mostly use endorphin for fun. There’s something about ragdolls that never gets boring.
Jokker : I would upload the endorphin setup, but my file sharing host doesn’t allow uploads more than 20 mb, so no dice. Though the inability to acces any nasa.gov site is interesting. Got some ip blocker or something?
on February 24th, 2007 at 3:15 am
Upload it to http://www.fileho.com It lets you upload up to a Gigabyte total.
I would upload it there myself but my bandwidth is getting high and I need to lay off it so it does not charge us more money.
on February 24th, 2007 at 3:16 am
Sorry again for the double but i forgot something.
ThatGuy I can use Sony Veags to get rid of there faces. It should be finished by tommorow night (AEST).
on February 24th, 2007 at 3:24 am
Hey guys,
well, at the moment I have got nothing to do, I can upload with my internet connection 60 kb/sec and I downloaded the megaupload toolbar for faster uploading. Now guess what I am going to upload ;)
on February 24th, 2007 at 5:06 am
Hm, sorry guys! It didn’t want to get past of those 72 % :(
I try to upload it again…
on February 24th, 2007 at 8:47 am
WOOHOO! It worked! :-)
The downloadlink for Endorphin 2.7 :
http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=S7YN7XGY
on February 24th, 2007 at 9:16 am
See what happens when you let members take the site into their own hands?! 105 POSTS IS WHAT HAPPENS.
I was all with Endorphin until the 5th tutorial when the guy talked really fast and version 2.5 was completely different to version 2.7 and it was confusing so I gave up.
-TGP-
on February 24th, 2007 at 9:17 am
sorry for 4 posts in a row, but if the download link doesn’t work, try it without that “/de” :
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S7YN7XGY
on February 24th, 2007 at 7:45 pm
Great_Pretender : Hmm.. tutorial 5 is pretty easy to understand, even without the guy explaining it. You should run through tutorial 5 untill you get the gist of it, then go ahead to tutorial 7 and 8. I personally skipped tutorials 6 (part 2 and part 3) as I was not going to make any props anytime soon.
Also, version 2.5 is not completely different from version 2.7. Quoting from the announcement, “endorphin 2.7 contains a range of new features, such as fluid interactions, a control panel plug for Autodesk Maya, improved hold behaviours, more file format options and enhanced resources.”
That would mean that most of 2.7 is either bug fixes or adding more features to the basic endorphin. I had no problems with the tutorial even when it was 2.5 .
Anyway, just don’t give up. Endorphin is truly an awesome thing when you get the grips of it and by giving up, your missing one of the best animation tools.

@Jokker: Download the toolbar and then it should work (download with the toolbar)

Heh, cool, I never knew people knew we existed. I thought we were like…an urban myth or something.
Oh, and no way I’m downloading the toolbar, I once downloaded Yahoo! toolbar and my dad spent 2 months trying to uninstall it…without letting me try, and banning me from the computer while he did…
Needless to say I’m not downloading a toolbar again. Meh, I’m content with Endorphin 2.6.1 for now…

Kick ass Matthew, when will you be back for more reviews?
on February 26th, 2007 at 5:50 am
As one of the developers of Physmo, I hope someone doesn’t upload it on emule. That would be a drag.

I hope it dosen’t get uploaded on emule too (which sucks anyway). I’m not going to pirate. But I can’t afforde to buy it. $20 is a lil much, I got gmod for 10. Anyway I’m kinda in debt with my parents ($750) for paying off half of my cat’s surgary (My little sister left a fucking peace of string out and my cat, Zelda btw, swallowed it). I’m a sweet guy and I couldint stand to just freekin kill her (put her to sleep).
