Tantalizing Gish 2 Tech Video
Alex Austin has posted some details of the news physics for Gish 2 over at the Cryptic Sea development blog:
The new model is made up of 128 particles which move independently and have an attraction to each other. The trick has been wrangling the particles to move as one blob, it’s getting closer but still needs some work to feel like the original Gish.

This is absolutely amazing. Totally expanding the usage of real-time physics on a downloadable game. Being able to actively change the size of Gish is crazy.

this will be amazing, however the gameplay will definately be different when you can split into smaller bits.. also the gish music is awesome, just more complicated than your average radio tune.
the gish soundtrack for the egyptian levels! i love it, just the right amount of math.
looking forward to this!

Looks nice, and as Liam said, controlling various Gishes (???) will be fun.
On a side-note, a revamp of Trackmania Nations got released 2 days ago; it’s called Nations Forever. Read more here: http://www.trackmania.com/en/index.php?lang=en&rub=news_info&id=94
It’s still free by the way.

I’m not sure you control different blobs but apparently he can turn into a liquid form now AND change size.
Yeah this looks awesome times fifty!

It looks like if the attraction was a little stronger, and they switched attraction to certain places it might not de-link as much (like layers of rings, where each other ring is connected to the next ring inwards.)
But hey, your the designer, do as you wish.

For the music – I don’t know if the Gish guys licensed that, but that’s “The Secret Song” by Mr. Bungle.

An update, yay! This looks great, i just hope they’ve still got that squishy feeling when controlling the Gish. And 2-player mode, that was a blast.
