When I saw just how many stunt points you got, I knew you had to have been doing something like that :P
on January 31st, 2008 at 9:48 pm
It’s good. The really bizarre context, combined with some obscure, almost open-world-type objectives made it a little confusing at first, but after a few rounds it proved itself to be very good. The physics are tuned phenomenally, as we should expect.
on January 31st, 2008 at 10:23 pm
I can’t wait to play it! I was so excited for this game!
on February 1st, 2008 at 12:57 am
it has actualy been out since tuesday… it is amazing.
on February 1st, 2008 at 3:18 am
So are you going to rebalance so driving in a circle doesn’t exploit the game?
on February 1st, 2008 at 6:50 am
The game’s great, but you have to question if the game’s scoring might be imbalanced, considering doing two-wheeled donuts seems to be the optimal way to score big. If the game’s theoretically about capturing raptors, shouldn’t the points be weighed in the favor of players performing that action, rather than ancillary stunt actions?
Not to put down the game, though. It’s definitely a fun one. I look forward to having more time to spend with it.
on February 1st, 2008 at 7:03 am
Absolutely awesome. I’d kill for a sandbox mode, though. There’d undoubtedly be more than a few “oh god why couldn’t I have done that when scores mattered” moments, but nothing about infinite time to run over raptors and do insane stunts sounds unappealing.
on February 1st, 2008 at 7:05 am
Yeah, doing the same stunt a second time should probably give only 60% of the score…
on February 1st, 2008 at 8:11 am
I just noticed something crappy. Time continues moving at the same pace even if the slow-mo thing is happening!
on February 1st, 2008 at 8:13 am
wait, thats not true, i saw it happening towards the end of my last game so i didn’t see how fast the clock actually goes, never mind don’t beleive my last post
on February 1st, 2008 at 8:14 am
@Scott Jon Siegel: I think it’s well balanced, because it’s actually pretty hard to pull of such a 2-wheeled donut stunt all the time and scoring over 1 million points.
One thing that slightly bothers me is that I can stick 3 dead velociraptors to the spike thing, two just isn’t enough hahaha!
on February 1st, 2008 at 10:22 am
I’m not too worried about score balance. Two-wheeling is the only event in the game that is uncapped, in terms of how long you can do it. Aside from the physics glitch scores, you can only jump so far, or kill so many raptors in a combo, etc…
I’m fine with two-wheeling being a top skill in the game. Only one person outside of the development team has been able to go for 10 seconds, so it’ll be awhile before people can compete on this level.
Scoring does degrade some (combo timers go down as the multiplier goes up). If it becomes a widespread problem we’ll rebalance, though!

The problem with the game is that I just can’t play it due to lag. Couldn’t there be any options to downgrade the visuals, so I could actually play it and not watch a slideshow?
on February 1st, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Yes, the lag is a massive problem for me as well, and I’ve heard a lot of complaints from others along the same lines. Even with the sound off it runs at 15 fps max, with the sound on it can slow to 2 fps!
So please, try and deal with that. I havn’t got any suggestions as to how.
On the offshot that it’s possible, which it probably isn’t, a downloadable version would be superb.
on February 1st, 2008 at 2:46 pm
Eh, the game runs to slow to enjoy it on my computer
on February 1st, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Same for me: massively laggy.
Simply unplayable.
Please fix that ASAP.
I think disabling bloom would help.
on February 1st, 2008 at 3:56 pm
It’s funny how some games just will not work no matter how fast or how much ram some computers have. anyway, the game works fine on my PC, but it’s fairly new. oh, and btw, the controls for driving the vehicle couldve been a lot better(turning incredibly sharp).
on February 1st, 2008 at 9:14 pm
I get decent performance. the only thing that bothers me with the title is the slow-mo overkill. An option to turn off the slow-motion sequences would be really nice.
(An option to have replays of your 5 minutes of game time would be cool too, and you could use slow motion effects then).
on February 1st, 2008 at 11:19 pm
I really want to love this, I really do. But the lag… The lag makes it unplayable!
on February 2nd, 2008 at 3:20 am
I think it’s a great game, and the only major improvement would be a downloadable version, I think people who don’t have as much time on the net could just download it, and play it when they were at home.
on February 2nd, 2008 at 7:12 am
Creath, yeah that replay-thingie would be awesome if it had free roam camera too.
Dis game is moar awesome than I imagined. Uh… Thanks! :D
on February 2nd, 2008 at 10:39 am
:D i think i mastered Two-Wheelin’ :D eheh top score of today + 9th on all time :D
PS: about 2) now i see it says (coming soon) :)
on February 2nd, 2008 at 3:32 pm
what music is that.
great game a little laggy but not too much, realy fun
on February 2nd, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Free-roam and replays (instant/total) would be nice additions, I think. Like say, press R for a recap of the last 5 seconds or so, and then when time’s up, you can click a button to see a replay of the entire thing?
on February 3rd, 2008 at 6:05 am
i saw a weird red and white egg looking thing but didnt get a good look, can anyone say what it is?
on February 3rd, 2008 at 6:26 am
Yay, pacifism and about 536,000 points :D
It’s fun to try to get as high score as possible by only, for example, collecting orbs (as I did for that >500k points)
on February 3rd, 2008 at 12:35 pm
I think some kind of variable editing protection is needed because theres some high scores that are obviously variable edited.
on February 3rd, 2008 at 12:39 pm
There is protection in place-it’s probably easier to change your score in memory while the game is playing, which is what might have happened…
on February 4th, 2008 at 8:23 am
This game definitely needs a replay feature, I’m too lazy to boot up Fraps. There’re just so many crazy thing you can do (sometimes without trying):
Just yesterday, I made a really high jump and crashed my car. One of the doors flew off, collected an orb and killed a raptor. That was fairly sweet.
Due to some bug, I managed to fling a raptor across the map like a rocket. It took 3,6 seconds for it to go from one end to the other.
I’ll never get that raptor flight achievement, by the way. 30 seconds is just far too godly for me to pull off. It’s like two-wheeling for 10 seconds, except a lot harder.
on February 6th, 2008 at 10:56 am
( the music is from: ‘The Flashbulb – Soundtrack To A Vacant Life’, at least the first song is, haven’t heard the full album yet. )
on February 8th, 2008 at 5:06 am
Weird, the game runs fluidly on my dad’s laptop, but it is inferior to my computer (where it runs really slow) in technical terms. How come?
on February 8th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
One thing i have to say is……………… MAKE A MODE WHERE THERE IS NO TIME! I don’t play the game for the online scoring, i say, keep the scoring, but don’t have the score go to the internet for this mode!
on February 11th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
The two wheeling scoring is the hardest thing to get good at. Trust me. I was flinging the catchers at Raptors long before I figured out how to Two Wheel properly.
>_>
on February 11th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Jeeze, it cut off the rest of my message. Oh well! Just said it was a great addictive game! Game of the year in my book!
on February 12th, 2008 at 8:00 am
I can’t get the Extinction achievement because the game crashes each time I get to around a dozen killed raptors.
Really, what’s going on with the performance problems? Why can’t some very nice rigs run the game well when some inferior ones can?
But yes, the game itself is awesome. If not for the problems…
on February 12th, 2008 at 8:22 am
…And what I really meant was the End World Hunger achievement.
…And I just got it a couple of seconds ago without the game crashing on me.
on February 12th, 2008 at 11:42 am
I love it.
I’ve been trying to get the Raptor Flight achievement by grabbing raptors and launching myself off the top of the higher cliffs, dropping my payload as soon as I’m clear of the cliff edge. Almost every time i’ve done this, as soon as I hit ground, Firefox crashes. Very, very disappointing.
on February 12th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I’ve posted videos on YouTube showing the 2 pteranodon kills, 35 orbs, 30 raptor kills, and the secret to Take Flight, Brave Raptors if anyone is curious. I still can’t 2-Wheel worth a darn though.
on February 14th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Finally killed all 3 pteranodons in one game. Video link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iajFi7h5ghI

Um, hello? HELLO!? anyone there, the site hasnt been updated in ages, but thats fine, the strange thing is that there havn’t been any comments in ages either. is no one leaving them or has the whole website become frozen it time? Is anyone out there? HELOOOOOO!?
on February 21st, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Yeah, I made a comment on the And Yet It Moves game a while ago, and now i barely even bother to check for comments anymore. And I know that Raptor Safari is a good game, but it doesn’t mean you can stop updating altogether!!! Everyone who checks this site knows a little drought like this happened before, so i’m just guessing this is the same thing.
on February 27th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Please don’t die on me, fun-motion. A month without any updates makes my life as a casual gamer pretty monotonous.
on February 28th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
I can’t play the game either, but it’s not because of lag… it’s because I can’t control a thing once the game starts! My mouse moves perfectly on the menu screen, and the game itself is clear and non-laggy once it starts, but nothing controls the jeep. It keeps moving an inch-an-hour and I can’t do anything about it. I’m basically just sitting there watching the jeep roll down a hill while I’m busting up my keyboard trying to find at least ONE button that does anything, but that button just doesn’t exist. I installed the Unity web player thing, and when the game starts it’s completely lag-free and with beautiful graphics, but I can’t PLAY the game for crap. Somebody please help. It looks like such an awesome game!
on February 29th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Nevermind, guys, it works now. I visited the page again today it just “magically” played correctly for once. (maybe because I restarted my computer?) I don’t know, but what I do know is that this game is fun! Wow, I hope they make a downloadable version soon, I’d just love to be able to play it offline whenever I want… :)
on March 3rd, 2008 at 7:45 pm
I hope the lack of updating is a result of the creation of a downloadable version of raptor safari.
on March 4th, 2008 at 2:44 am
Heh… a shortlived time of updates to promote an own design, and then it died down again. I am not entirely surprised.
on April 3rd, 2008 at 9:39 am
word to the wise: if you’re mid-game and your keyboard suddenly stops controlling the game, you gotta restart, that’s all. also, the game runs like a beaut on my macbook pro…not a drop of lag. and, though i’m completely and contentedly addicted to the game, i agree w/ some posters that killing raptors should yield the highest possible scores, not spinning doughnuts :)
